Views from the Bleu Ciel Premier Penthouse
Last week Bleu Ciel reached its peak into the sky as the 33rd floor concrete for the Premier Penthouse was set. It was a chilly day in December of 2014 when the building first broke ground with Dallas’ Mayor Mike Rawlings and Harwood International CEO Gabriel Barbier-Mueller, and now just 14 months later the dazzling building has claimed its place in the Dallas skyline. With the floors and walls of the building in place, the fun continues with the exquisite finish outs of the Bleu Ciel homes.
True to the European tradition, this week the construction team will place HARWOOD’s signature pine tree at the top of the building. The tradition comes from the first topping-out ceremonies in the 8th Century that used sheaths of grain and has evolved to trees placed at the peak of the building as the last beam is set in place. It is said to bring the project good luck and hope that the building will be a permanent structure in the growing skyline. HARWOOD will also start a new tradition and invite all the construction workers that have dedicated months and long hours to the Bleu Ciel project to sign one of the district’s signature cows to celebrate the milestone.
Bleu Ciel future residents are starting to see their home come to life and their selection of resident finishes put into place. While the building has continued to make its way upward, finish outs have already begun on the lower levels of the building. Bleu Ciel residents will begin to move in this summer and continue through the fall as homes are finished out.
It’s an exciting time for the HARWOOD District. The new Rolex building topped out in December 2016 and new cranes are expected to go up this spring over their newest Class AA office tower HARWOOD No. 10.
